Deseronto Public Library announces extended hours, plans for Earth Day celebration

Spring of 2023 brings many new and exciting programs to the Deseronto Public Library, as well as some welcome and refreshing changes.

Starting April 11, the Deseronto Public Library will be implementing new hours of operation to better serve community needs, open six days a week with the following hours:

Mondays: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Tuesdays: 10:00am – 8:00pm

Wednesdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Thursdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Fridays: 4:00pm – 7:00pm

Saturdays: 10:00am – 2:00pm

Adding an additional evening enables those who work during the day to have an extra opportunity to use the library resources and participate in scheduled programming, instead of being limited to the single evening on Tuesdays.

April also holds two very exciting national days of celebration; National Canadian Film Day on April 19, and Earth Day on April 22. On April 19, the Library will be hosting a screening of the film “Beans”, directed by Tracey Deer, an Indigenous woman of the Mohawk Peoples, who’s film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the 2021 Canadian Screen Award for Best Picture. The show starts at 4 pm and all are welcome to attend. On April 22, in celebration of Earth Day, the Library will be hosting a Plant Swap and Propagation Station event from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. All are welcome and encouraged to bring a plant cutting from home and a container or flower pot to plant any cuttings you take home. All needed soil will be provided.
