CELA to host webinar Thursday afternoon regarding OPG’s application to exceed provincial air pollution standard

Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA) will be hosting a webinar on Sept. 15 at 12 p.m. about possible pollution concerns in Bath and Napanee.

According to the CELA, Ontario Power Generation has recently applied for a new air pollution standard for its Lennox Generating Station. If their application is granted, they would be able to exceed the provincial air pollution standard for sulphur dioxide, oxides of nitrogen and sulphuric acid for up to 10 years. The CELA says these emissions can cause impacts to human health, especially in combination with emissions from other facilities in the area.

Community members can share their concerns by submitting comments through the Environmental Registry of Ontario by Sept. 29. CELA will be explaining more about how and why they feel the community should be concerned at their upcoming webinar.
