It was two crimes for the price of one for Lennox and Addington OPP early this morning, as they apprehended suspected break and enter suspects while responding to a separate failure to remain at the scene car accident.
Around 3 a.m. officers responded to a report of a fail to remain single motor vehicle collision on Dundas street west just before Alma street in Greater Napanee.
A westbound motor vehicle was located resting against some large rocks that are in place before the Napanee River on the south side of Dundas street. The air bags were deployed and no occupants had remained at the scene.
Police have identified a suspect in the fail to remain motor vehicle collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
While the officers were at the motor vehicle collision, police observed an unrelated suspicious vehicle that was believed to be involved in an ongoing break and enter case.
The suspicious vehicle stopped at their collision scene and officers detained two suspects and initiated an investigation. Police located improperly stored cannabis, break and enter tools, and seized weapons including brass knuckles and knives.
Police arrested the two occupants and transported them to Napanee Detachment for processing.
L&A County OPP have charged a 24 man of Greater Napanee and a 20 year old Kingston man with:
- Possession of break in instruments;
- Possession of prohibited weapon; and
- Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to Prohibition Order .
The Napanee man was further charged with
- Drive motor vehicle – fail to display two plates contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, and
- Have care or control of vehicle with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis control Act
