Bytown Royals join Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League

A last minute swap right before team fees were due means the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League will welcome a new club to the mix.

Gloucester’s Bytown Royals are in and the Pontiac Comets are out.

Through it all, the end result is the Deseronto Bulldogs will still have 11 other opponents to square off against when the senior league resumes its second season this fall.

The Comets were forced to drop out over concerns with their home arena. That opened the door back up for Gloucester, who in May just missed being granted a franchise by a vote of 7-4 in favour of Tweed.

The Bulldogs, one of the league’s four original teams, will play in the West Conference for the upcoming season which includes the West Carleton Rivermen, Tweed Oil Kings, Frontenac Phantoms, Gananoque Islanders and Smiths Falls Rideaus.
