Britt Benn was back on the podium for a second week in a row while also earning a second straight selection to the HSBC Dream Team.

The Napanee native helped Team Canada’s Rugby Sevens to a bronze finish in Cape Town as part of the WSBC Rugby World Series.

Benn made a crucial tackle followed by a steal and offload to set up the game-ending try and propel the Canadians to a 22-17 extra-time win over France in the bronze medal game.

For her efforts Benn was also named a DHL Impact Player in the tournament, picking up 12 tackles, three breaks, three offloads and 29 carries. She was one of three forwards named to the Dream Team, the second straight week she earned that honour.

The bronze finish followed up Canada’s silver finish in Dubai the previous weekend and continued to close the gap in the season standings. Canada sits fourth with 28 points, four back of Australia for third. The US and New Zealand are tied for first with 36 each.

Benn will be back in her hometown this week, speaking at the Napanee Lion’s Hall this Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
