The Lennox and Addington County Museum and Archives is giving fans of Tim Nimigan’s popular Our Town comic strip a chance to meet the artist.

Nimigan, who has drawn his signature cartoon for the Napanee Beaver on every-other-week basis for 17 years now, is the focus of an ongoing exhibit at the museum. Guests can browse a collection of 40 select cartoons that have appeared in this paper for nearly two decades.

Visitors can also book a special tour with Nimigan himself, on Friday Oct. 30 or Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. or on Tuesday Oct. 13 or Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.

The small specialized tours allow for the museum to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, while also giving guests up close access to the artist. They’ll have the opportunity to have a comical engagement with the Canadian Community Newspaper Awards winning artist.

After guests stroll through the hall and peruse the comics that are hung on the wall, Nimigan will answer any questions relating to the series from ‘How did you get started doing Our Town?’ to ‘How long does it take to do each cartoon?’ to “Has the Beaver editor ever turned down any submissions?’ to “Are there any plans to syndicate the series?’ and everything else in between.

The exhibit was held in conjunction with the release of Nimigan’s second book ‘Our Town Is Your Town’, which features a collection of his comics that ran in the paper between 2013 and April 2020. Copies of the book are available by emailing Tim.Nimigan@Sympatico.ca or through the museum’s bookstore.

Admission to the ‘Tour with Tim” is $3 and bookings can be made by visiting https://www.lennox-addington.on.ca/museum-archives/tuesday-night-with-tim-october-13-2020 or calling 613-354-3027. Space is limited to 12 people per tour.

Self-guided tours are also available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday as well. The museum’s archives are also open, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday by appointment.
