Bath producer’s WWII film to be screened at Belleville Downtown DocFest on Feb. 24

Wandering Journalist Productions’ four-part documentary series, Heroines in the Storm is an official selection of the Belleville Downtown DocFest.

The film is produced by Bath’s Dale Morrisey and is inspired by the book Extraordinary Women Extraordinary Times: Canadian Women of WWII, by Napanee author Sherry Pringle.

Episode Four: The War at Home will screen on Saturday February 24 at 10 a.m. This episode  focuses on the efforts made by women on the homefront during the war to keep the war effort going, including Napanee’s Gibbard Girls. These women helped Gibbards transition to the war-time economy and build everything from ammunition boxes to ships’ wheels and other items for the war. Women who took part in the war effort on the home front also helped in farming efforts through the farmertte program, were employed across many wartime industries, played professional baseball, and so much more.

The docuseries will debut on PBS later this year.
