The Napanee Exit Realty Acceleration Bantams posted two wins over the Thorold Blackhawks in their OMHA provincial finals with strong team performances by the local boys.

In Saturday’s road game, the Stars were 5-2 winners. Gavin Brooks led the way with four goals as they dominated their hosts, with fine play.

After giving up an early goal, Brooks had a natural hat trick. Ethan Martin earned an assist. Carter McKee tallied the other with assists to Marshall Maracle and Owen Gibson. Shots were 26-25 for Napanee.

Sunday, five minutes in, Zach Slaven tallied on a rebound of Quinton Pierce’s close in shot. In the second, Will Myers’ point shot was tipped by Daniel Chase to double the score. In the third, Martin picked up an errant pass to deke the Black Hawks’ netminder.  At the other end, Ryan Eldridge was tested early in the third in a short-handed situation, and earned the shutout. Shots were 32-17 for the Stars.

The bantam Stars will have a chance to close out the first-to-six-points series on the road Saturday when they travel to Thorold.

If necessary, Game 4 would go Sunday in Napanee at the SPC at 1 p.m. Game 5 would be back in Thorold on March 30 and the winner-take-all Game 6 would go March 31 at 2:30 p.m. at the SPC.
