Bantam BB Stars continue to keep pace with league’s top teams

The Napanee Exit Realty Acceleration Bantam BBs remain near the top of the Eastern Ontario League standings. Sunday, they battled Otonabee on the road to earn a 5-1 win.

-The Novice BB Stars faced Loyalist at home on Sunday. Jadon McNamee and Mason Whalen scored in the first half of the game, but after two periods, it was 4-2 for the visitors.  Keagan York had two great chances, and finally scored on his third opportunity of the shift in the third period. Matthew Travers did his part between the posts, but it ended 5-3 for the Jets.

-Meanwhile, the Napanee Joyce’s Meat & Deli Atom BB continue to sail along, with a 13-2 win facing Centre Hastings at the Strathcona Paper Centre on Sunday. Matthew Airhart had four goals, while Tivon James and Ben Kerr each had a pair. Goalie Caleb Scrimshaw got the win.  They remain perfect with an 11-0 won-lost record.

-The L&A Mutual Insurance Atom AEs gained a split in their home-and-home with Otonabee. On the road, the squad won 5-3 in a close match, with an empty net goal for insurance. Sunday they fell behind early, before Callum Moore grabbed a puck right off the faceoff, walked in and stretched the twine. Cruz Maracle and Cooper Seaton also tallied for the locals.  In the end, the score was 9-3 for Otonabee. Carter Cork had a busy afternoon between the posts.

-The Peewee BBs continued their solid play defeating a strong Frontenac team in Picadilly 4-3 and won 5-2 in Stirling, to remain in second place with games in hand. Sunday, they shutout Stirling 3-0 at the SPC. Jayden Holden scored the winner, while Carter Hartwick and and Caleb South chipped in goals as well. Aiden Difazio earned the shutout.

-The Peewee AEs had a solid outing facing Norwood on Saturday. Down 1-0, Owen Kish broke in alone to tie the match, but after two periods they were down 3-1. Ryan Maracle banged home a loose puck shorthanded to keep it close, before their guests tallied with 1:59 remaining to make it 4-2 Norwood. Owen Dwyer had two assists. Goalie Ben Buxton made several fine stops for the locals. Sunday, in Madoc, facing Centre Hastings, they were narrowly edged 6-5.

-The Napanee Midgets coasted past Stirling 12-0 on Saturday night to remain undefeated in league play. Corbin Gibson and Mason Barker each scored twice, while goalie Emerson Kennelly earned the shutout. Friday, in Picadilly they got a scare, but edged Frontenac 3-2.

-Friday, the Andy McGarvey Memorial Tournament begins with about 100 games to be played, both in Napanee and Deseronto.
