Babcock records natural hat trick as U13 Stars blank Lakefield 11-0

The Napanee U13 Stars rolled over Lakefield 11-0 on Saturday. The result was never in doubt as Bruce Ryder would score the winner on a fine individual effort near the end of a Napanee penalty, 12 minutes in. Ben Babcock recorded a natural hat trick, and other tallies were added by Liam Mulder (two), Declan McGarvey, Keagan York, Maddux Hartwick, Hudson Conger, and Bryson Wilson.

On Sunday in Brighton, they won 9-2 to maintain their fight for second in their league. After spotting their hosts a goal, Mulder tallied four goals to lead the way, with Jonathan Hough, Jacob Lyons, Grayson Roe, Hartwick, and York also appearing on the score sheet.

-The U18 Stars were solid winners, 7-4 at home to Prince Edward County. It took Jack Osborne only 38 seconds to tap in a rebound off a point shot. Luc Amat went low, blocker side to tally on a penalty shot, and Zered Haller tucked in Amat’s rebound to end the first period up by three. Shots favoured Napanee 17-2. In the second, their guests put up a power play marker before Spencer Cranley set up Karter Vermilyea to stretch the lead. Jayden Holden fired high over the blocker side short handed with 3:54 left in the second, before Cranley grabbed a loose puck, and roofed it past the goalie. Shots after two periods favoured Napanee 33-11. The County would get three back in the third before Holden would find the empty net in the last minute. Sam Rickard was effective between the pipes.

-In exhibition play, the U15 Stars hosted Ennismore with a strong 7-1 win. In the first, the teams traded goals, the local’s netted by Luc Asselstine. The Stars would add four in the second from the sticks of Brock Alaver (2) and Wyatt Albright (2). In the third frame, Evan Gaffney and Wes Davey would round out the scoring. Earlier, the boys had defeated the County 9-1.

-The U11 Northfleet squad lost 5-0 to Douro at the Strathcona Paper on Sunday.
