Atom Stars reach quarter-finals of Silver Stick in Ayr

The Napanee Conger Plumbing Atom AEs and Napanee Canadian Tire Peewee AEs travelled to the Silver Stick in Ayr near Cambridge. With 16 teams in each division, the Peewee AEs tied Listowel 1-1, defeated Tillsonburg 5-2, and shut out Erie 2-0 to be first in their pool. In the quarter-final, they lost 3-0 to Durham.  The Atom AEs started strong, downing Ingersall 5-2. A strong Mariposa squad shut the locals out 4-0. Facing the host Ayr team, they managed a 3-3 draw to finish third in their pool.

-In league play, the Windoor Midget BBs tied Central Hastings 2-2 in Madoc on Friday night. They were down by two in the last minute, but Ethan Martin, undaunted, queued the comeback, scoring with 35 seconds left.  Then in dramatic fashion, Martin scored again 13 seconds later off a dump-in to earn the tie. At home, they controlled Bancroft 6-1. Martin led things off scoring from the edge of the crease.  Quinton Pierce combined with Caden Holmes and Josh Reid for the winner. Jacob Boutilier  blasted one from the point that found the net, and Tyler Brady, Reid, and Zach Maracle completed the scoring.

-The Calderwood Automation Bantams defeated the County twice, 5-0, and 2-1 in a home-and-home series to remain atop the league standings.  In Wellington, Spencer Cranley netted a hat trick and assist, while Aaron Storms got a goal and assist, and Will Myers did the rest of the damage. Zered Haller and Jack Osborne tallied assists, too.  Saturday at the SPC was a tighter affair, but Cranley put them on the board first from Gavin Brooks. After PEC scored, Osborne got the winner with four seconds left in the second frame.

-The AFW Construction Atoms earned a lopsided 14-1 win in Gananoque.  Eight different shooters scored including hat tricks by Cooper Seaton and Ben Kerr. Brock Boutilier and Callen Wilson each had two, plus singles went to Wes Davey, Oliver Kimmett, William Babcock, and Brock Alaver. Sunday at home, they won 5-2 over Stirling. They spotted a goal to their guests before Davey tipped Babcock’s point shot, and Kerr evaded opponents to take a one-goal lead.  Seaton tallied the winner from the low slot, and Kerr added his second. Alaver iced the game with a backhand in the dying seconds. The team sits second behind Campbellford in league standings.

-The Napanee Country Butcher Shop Peewees cruised 18-2 hosting Loyalist at the SPC. There were nine Napanee snipers, displaying their balanced attack.  Mason Goodfellow tallied six, Tie Wood netted four, and Mitchel Turner and Kohen Cutler each had two. Joaquin Murray, Owen Dwyer, Evan Gaffney and Owen Kish chipped in the rest.  In Tweed, they earned a 6-1 win. Goodfellow had a pair, while Cutler, Scott Scrimshaw, Ty Turpin, and Sam McCaw tallied, too.  Their 16 wins and a tie put them at the top of league standings.
