Lennox and Addington County OPP officers responded to a call for a fire at an Amherstview residence on Monday around 1 p.m. When officers arrived, the Loyalist Township Fire Services were at scene attempting to gain access to suppress a small garage fire.
A resident at the home fled when police arrived but was apprehended by officers after a foot chase lasting a few blocks.
A 51-year-old man of Amherstview has been charged contrary to the criminal code with:
- Mischief Under $ 5,000
- Mischief Endangering Life
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
- Arson – Damage to Property
The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice at Napanee today.
