Soren Zamuner potted a pair of goals to help the Napanee Raiders to a 4-1 victory over the Port Hope Panthers Friday night at the SPC.

Zamuner’s first of the game came late in the second period, giving the Raiders a 3-1 cushion at the time. He tacked on an insurance goal midway through the third to help Napanee secure their 14th straight win to open the season. Ryan Kidd and Ben White also scored for the home team in the first and second periods respectively. Port Hope’s lone goal came from the stick of Isaac Langdon, scoring in the final minutes of the first to knot the game at 1-1 at the time.

Napanee netminder Baily Maracle wasn’t tested a lot between the pipes but he was there when his team needed, turning away 18 of 19 shots. At the other end of the ice Port Hope’s Sam Dingle was much more busier on the night, fielding 40 pucks sent his way, stopping 36 of them.

Neither team could generate anything on the power-play, with Port Hope going 0-6 while Napanee was 0-5.

The Raiders will look to keep their perfect record intact when they welcome the Amherstview Jets to the SPC on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop. The next night they’re in Campbellford to face the Rebels, also starting at 7:30 p.m.
