Musicians aged 13-29 will have the chance wow judges and audiences at a Youth Battle of the Bands on June 1 at the Napanee Fairgrounds.

Applications are open now through May 1 for any amateur band or solo act based between Trenton and Gananoque. To apply, music acts must submit a video showcasing their talents to BOTBNapanee@gmail.com by the deadline. Successful entries will be contacted by May 20.

“We wanted to create something new that also benefits the youth,” said Jasmine Bailey, owner of Leopold’s Event Planning, which is hosting the event.

Musical acts will play two songs, one of which can be an original if they chose. Not only will the event provide them a venue to gain stage experience, but they’ll perform before a panel of judges that will include David Chesebrough of the Howe Island Rocking the Rock music festival and Renay Weissman-Stanners of County 99.3 FM.

Prizes for the top acts include tickets to the MacKinnon Brother’s Brewing Company’s Back to the Farm concert, a professional band banner and studio recording time.

Vendor opportunities also exist for local businesses and can be reserved by emailing Leopoldseventplanning@hotmail.com.

Pre-sale tickets for the event are now available, with $10 tickets for anyone over 13, $5 for those between the age of five and 12 and a family pass (two adults, two kids under 18) for $20. Tickets are available by searching the Youth Battle of the Bands & Vendor Show Facebook page.

A portion of ticket sales will go towards  Napanee’s Harmony Lounge and Music Club.
