Eight-year-old artist Jackson Pringle raised over $850 for Napanee Community Kitten Rescue selling his one-of-a-kind pebble creations.
His project, which he has dubbed Jax for Cats, has been his way of giving back to the community while in lockdown. He says he’s always loved kittens so it was only natural that he use the funds to support a cause dedicated to their well being. Napanee Community Kitten Rescue cares for feral, stray or homeless kittens and helps to find them a safe home.
With a little help from his grandmother, Sherry Pringle, the young artist has sold nearly 60 of his masterpieces. He selects the design and then his grandma helps glue pebbles, twigs and shells onto the canvas or wood to create all sorts of pictures. They sell for between $10 and $20. On Tuesday he invited Nancy Clark and Missy Hull of the Napanee Community Kitten Rescue to his grandmother’s house to present the cheque. The money comes at a time when, like all charities, Napanee Kitten Rescue could really use it. They continue to accumulate food and vet bills for the kittens in their care. Though they are still taking kittens in to their care, they are struggling to find homes for them during the pandemic. Pringle’s donation will go a long way in helping them through this challenging time.
Pringle’s work has become so popular that it will be featured in an exhibit at Touch of Wellness in Napanee.
