Yarker’s Jay Dearborn’s four-man bobsleigh team finished 22nd overall at the Beijing Olympics, +1.54 back of the gold medal winners from Germany.

Dearborn was the brake man for the Canada’s four-man team that was piloted by Taylor Austin and included Chris Patrician and Daniel Saunders. Their 22nd place finish after the first two runs left them just outside the top 20 teams that advanced to the final heat on Saturday evening.

Canada wasn’t shutout of the bobsleigh medals however as Justin Kripps captured bronze behind gold medal winner Johannes Lochner and silver medalist Francesco Friedrich, both from Germany.

The bronze was Canada’s 26th medals of the game-and final one as the games wrap up today. In total Canada won four gold, eight silver and 14 bronze, earning the fourth most medals of the games.
