Wiarton Willie calls for early spring

Canada’s most famous weather forecaster is predicting spring will be here sooner than later.

Wiarton Willie the groundhog did not see his shadow, which according to folklore, means we’re in for an early spring.

This year’s ceremony in Wiarton marked the first time the event has been held in person since 2019.

While spring may arrive a few weeks earlier than usual, it certainly won’t feel like it over the next too days with the temperature expected to drop to -22 tonight and down to -28 on Friday here in Napanee. The rodent may know what he’s talking about however as the mercury will climb all the way up to 3 degrees by Sunday.
