Maddi Wheeler had the golden goal for Team Canada, scoring 1:34 into overtime to lift Canada to a 3-2 victory over the United States in the gold medal game at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship this morning in Japan.
That goal was the first of the tournament for the Erinsville native, though she did record at least one assist in her four previous games, finishing with six points in the tournament.
