van der WEY, Lewis

Surrounded by his beloved family, Lewis “Lou” van der Wey, 64 of Napanee, Ontario passed peacefully on January 9, 2024. Lou was born January 19, 1959 to Lolke and Maria van der Wey of Tweed, Ontario. One of ten children, Lou grew up in a farming family filled with love and laughter. Lou worked at Proctor and Gamble in Belleville, but his true passion was motorcycles. He was happiest when riding his motorcycle. Lou is survived by the love of his life Terry (Burriss) who he married June 27, 1981. Together they have three children Amanda (Bryce), Mitchell, and Amy (Tim). Lou cherished his family and firmly believed family was the most important thing in life. He was delighted when he became an Opa to Dan, Clark, and Evalene, and was so looking forward to meeting Baby Dillabough due in July. He loved being their “Op” and will be forever missed by them all. Lou is also survived by his siblings Elizabeth (late Wayne), Susanna, Maria (Chris), Ludgerus (Alma), Regina, Anthony (Teah), Margaret-Rose (Robert), Anne-Marie (Stephen) and many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law of Mike (Christine); Rick (Eileen); and Rob Burriss (Minnie). Lou is predeceased by his parents Lolke and Maria and by his older brother Joe (Sue). The family received friends at the Hannah Funeral Home in Napanee on Wednesday evening, January 17 from 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Canadian Blood Services or the Ontario SPCA, Lennox and Addington Branch in Napanee.
