Napanee net-minders teamed up to allow just one goal over 120 minutes of hockey this weekend, picking up a pair of road wins in the process.

Ethan Babin set the tone Saturday night with a 13 save shutout as the Raiders topped the Rebels 5-0 in Campbellford. Logan Vale faced much stiffer competition on Sunday night, holding the first-place Frankford Huskies to one goal on 41 shots in Napanee’s 4-1 victory.

Ben White put Napanee up 1-0 in the first, the lone goal scored in the opening frame. Frankford’s Ben Smith scored the equalizer just under two minutes into the second period. Napanee’s defense shutdown Frankford’s powerful offense from there while Christos Chronis scored a pair and Ben Chubbs added an empty-netter for Napanee.

The Huskies out-shot the Raiders 41-32 on the night but still wound up three goals short on the scoreboard.

Saturday night in Campbellford the Raiders had a much easier night against the still winless Rebels, peppering 63 shots and accumulating five unanswered goals.

Luke Jarmin, Michael Patrick and Spencer Cranley each had a goal while Cameron Krupa notched a pair in the last period.

The two victories improve the Raiders’ record to 18-11 with one tie on the season. They remain in fourth place in the East Tod Division, 11 points back of the front-running Huskies. Port Hope is second with 42 points while the Amherstview Jets are third with 40. The Picton Pirates trail Napanee by 11 points while the Rebels have just two points on the season.

Napanee has 12 games remaining to try and make up some ground in the standings. They’ll travel to Picton on Thursday night before welcoming the Port Hope Panthers to the Strathcona Paper Centre on Friday. Both contests get underway at 7:30 p.m.
