The United Empire Loyalist Heritage Centre and Park’s museum located in Adolphustown reopened to the public late last month.
The museum is located along the historic Loyalist Parkway in the village of Adolphustown, and gives visitors a glimpse into the story of the Loyalists who settled in the Bay of Quinte region, as well as other local history.
Taking into consideration the current climate surrounding COVID-19, several measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of all guests and staff. Hand sanitizer will be provided upon entry, and disposable gloves will be available for researchers. Staff will also wear masks at all times, and guests must also wear their own masks while visiting the museum, or staff can provide visitors with disposable masks. Social distancing is expected and the number of guests at a given time will be limited to ensure the safety of everyone. After each visit, the UEL Heritage Centre staff will ensure proper cleaning of all high touch areas including door handles and handrails.
The museum is open by appointment or chance, on Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. but is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Those wishing to delve into their family tree are also welcome to make an appointment in advance to visit the library research centre in the museum so staff can arrange any materials to assist you before you arrive.
