U18 Stars reach elite eight before bowing out at OMHA provincials

The D&D Electrocraft U18 Napanee Stars made a strong showing at the OMHA Provincial Tier 1 tournament in Kingston on the weekend with a 1-1-1 record, but did not advance to the semifinals. They were, however, a part of the elite eight teams in the province, and the top team of 12 in the Eastern Ontario League.

On Friday morning, they matched Lindsay 1-1. They spotted their opponents a power play goal before Blake Wood tallied early in the third frame, with an assist going to Zered Haller.  Aiden Vallier was solid between the posts.

In Game 2, Aidan Difazio shutout East Elgin as the Stars shone 3-0. Goal scorers were Owen Kish, Luc Asselstine and Jayden Holden.

Saturday, facing Parry Sound, the defence was clicking in a scoreless first period. The teams traded goals in the second- the Stars reaching the scoreboard when Holden notched one with helpers to Wood and Haller. The Shamrocks got two in the third to win 3-1, to allow Parry Sound to advance to the semis along with Lindsay.
