U18 Stars off to fast start in postseason play

As the playoffs began, the Napanee U18 Stars were full value in a 6-1 win in Stirling. With emotions under control, the boys focused on winning. They traded goals in the second after a scoreless first. Spencer Cranley’s first was a power play marker. He would get the winner early in the third, another power play goal. Brody Beaubien and Zered Haller would add to the total 27 seconds apart, and Dylan Kemp would clinch the win with two more goals, one a power play tally. The return match is tonight at 9 p.m.

-The U13 Stars went down to defeat 9-3 in a road game facing Frontenac, the top team in league play. Declan McGarvey gave them an early lead 35 seconds in, and Keagan York scored in the second. Grayson Rowe would get their final goal in the third, but it was not enough.

-The Napanee U15 squad put in an excellent performance at the Lindsay “Battle For the Puck” Tournament. They reached the semi-finals on Sunday, but fell 4-1 to Ayr in a penalty filled match. Their eight minor penalties were balanced against Ayr’s 10 minors. After two periods, they trailed by three before Ben Kerr put the Stars on the board.

Earlier they defeated Lindsay 3-1. Callen Wilson, Oliver Kimmett and Kerr scored in the win. They shut out Thorold 5-0 with goals by Wilson, Brock Boutilier, Brock Alaver, Wes Davey, and Kerr. Renfrew went down by the same 5-0 score. Scoring were: Colton Lockridge, Boutilier, and Wilson (two). In the quarters, they got their third shutout, 2-0 over Ennismore- Boutilier and Lockridge doing the damage for the locals.
