U18 Stars look sharp heading into OMHA playoffs

With playoffs looming, the Napanee U18 Stars took on a physical Tweed squad shutting them out 3-0 at the Strathcona Paper Centre.

Ethan Martin took a pass from Zered Haller, fired high for the winner. In the second period, Marshall Maracle fed Austin Catena on a 2-on-1 to pad the score. In the third frame, Luc Amat tipped Owen Gibson’s point shot to round out the scoring. Spencer Cranley also assisted on the goal. Ryan Aldridge earned the shut-out, with the Stars out shooting their guests 23-20. Earlier, they were outscored 3-2 facing Stirling. Sunday, in the back half of their home-and-home with Stirling, the boys rallied for a 5-2 win, thanks to goals by Catena, Haller, Martin, Jakob Dacosta, and goalie Sam Rickard.

-The U-15 Stars coasted past Prince Edward County 5-0 in Wellington. Tie Wood scored a hat trick while Scott Scrimshaw and Coulson South added singles to finish first in their league.

-The Conger’s Plumbing U-13 AE Stars were in Gananoque on Saturday and led early on with goals by Ryder Bruce, Nicholas Cook, and Hudson Conger. Jacob Lyons made it 4-3 before their hosts tallied 10 unanswered goals to make it 13-4. Sunday at home to Tweed, the locals tied their guests 5-5.
