U18 Stars double up host Bradford to clinch Blue and Gold Tournament

The Napanee U18 Stars were full value as 4-2 winners, in the finals of the Bradford Blue & Gold Tournament, facing the host team in Bradford. Friday, they doubled up on the Ottawa Sting 6-3, but lost 3-1 facing Georgina. Saturday, they coasted past the Bradford squad 7-2. Placing second, the locals faced Ottawa Sting in the semis to again defeat their opponents 5-1. Meanwhile fourth place Bradford upset first place and undefeated Georgina 3-2 to reach the finals, and meet the Stars again. Bradford is between Toronto and Barrie.

-In Gananoque, the U15 boys put in a strong performance to win 4-1. Ben Kerr had a goal and assist, and Wyatt Albright, Collen Wilson, and Kohen Cutler also found the net, Cutler’s into the empty cage. Douro postponed their other scheduled game this week.

-Napanee’s U13 boys were solid hosts at home to Stirling with a 3-0 shutout performance. Quinn McConnell got the winner in the first, and set up Chase Castagnier’s tally in the second. Ryder Bruce scored in the third. Keegan Wilde also earned an assist, while Jonathan Hough earned the shutout between the pipes.

-The Napanee U11 North Fleet Stars played a tight game Sunday at the SPC facing Tweed. They were scoreless after the first frame, with the Stars outshooting their guests 6-4. They were foiled on a breakaway before Ben De Kairelle put them up 1-0 with 20 seconds left in the second frame on a setup pass from the corner by William Fenwick. Tweed rallied in the third to win 4-1. Their earlier game in Gananoque was postponed by storms.
