U15 Stars primed for first place showdown on Saturday

Beaver Staff

The U11B Cpk Interior Products Napanee Stars fell 4-1 in Gananoque on Saturday.  Hunter O’Hoski had the lone goal.  On Sunday, at home to Frontenac, they saw three lead changes in the first period, but came on strong in the second with four unanswered goals, and added one in the third to win 7-4.  Nathan Kimmett’s point shot along the ice eluded the Islander’s netminder to start the parade. Sullivan Elliott tallied on a rebound in close. In the second, Ben de Kairelle tied the score at three before O’Hoski put one in the open side to regain the lead. Hunter Armstrong fired a blast which rebounded to Elliott who added to the lead.  O’Hoski sent De Kairelle in alone, and Ira Bellegarde picked up a loose puck to round out the scoring.  Cooper Castignier started in net for the Stars, and Lloyd Piontek preserved the victory.

-The U15 Stars rolled over Stirling on Saturday 8-1.  Cal Wilson’s streak continued as he recorded a hat trick. Other scorers were Brock Boutilier (two), Liam Mulder, Oliver Kimmett, and Colton Lockridge. Each team had a power play goal, but penalties were not a major factor. Next up is a return match with Ennismore at the SPC, Saturday Jan. 20 at 4:30 p.m. in the battle for first place.

-The Goodyear U13 Napanee Stars were full value for their 6-3 win when Centre Hastings visited Napanee in the back half of their home-and-home series last week. The Stars took leads of 1-0, 2,-1, and 3-2 on the strength of goals by Chase Catagnier, Grayson Rowe, and Walker Presley, but they were knotted at three after the second frame.  Coming out strong in the third, Maddux Hartwick notched a pair, and Castignier got his second of the night for the win.

-The D&D Electrocraft U18 Napanee Stars faced Frontenac and fell behind early before coming back with three goals in the third for a 3-3 tie. Jayden Holden scored early in the period, and Carter Slaven added a power play marker, before Holden saved the day with only 12 seconds left.  Their game with Douro for first place in league standings was cancelled because of inclement weather.
