The Napanee U15 Stars put in a good showing at the eight team OMHA Championship Weekend in Barrie, but ended up with no victories to show for it. Friday, they faced a strong St. Mary’s squad in a defensive struggle. It was scoreless after two periods, before their opponents scored early in the third to edge the Stars 1-0. Goalie Carter Cork was solid in net. Shots favoured St. Mary’s 26-16.

Facing Ingersoll in a must win situation, they fell behind by three. However, in the third frame, Wyatt Albright, with help from Evan Gaffney would start the comeback tallying a power play marker. Colton Lockridge would make it close with 101 seconds left. Even removing goalie Jackson Godfrey for an extra attacker changed nothing, and it ended 3-2. Napanee outshot Ingersoll 23-20.

The Stars got a strong start in game three facing Lindsay with goals by Brock Boutilier and Albright. Will Babcock earned assists on both goals. Nolan Hilderbrandt of Lindsay would be their nemisis, however, earning a hat trick for the Muskies, and the locals were down by three with under thee minutes left. Lian Birney would get a helper on Kohen Cutler’s late tally. Goalie Carter Cork was removed for an extra attacker on a power play, but it ended 5-3. Again, shots favoured Napanee 32-22. St. Mary’s would later be declared Champions by defeating S. Muskoka 5-1 in the final.
