U13 Napanee Stars grab 1-0 Tier 2 series lead over Campbellford

The Goodyear U13 Napanee Stars defeated the visiting Campbellford boys 4-3 in a best of three Tier 2 series on Saturday. Walker Presley scored 39 seconds in, on a fine pass from Chase  Castignier. Ben Babcock fired one over the blocker, and Castignier tallied from a tough angle near the goal line.  Presley got the winner as the second frame wound down, and they held their rivals off in the third. Shots favoured Napanee 28-14. Game 2 is this Sunday on the road.

-The Cpk Interior Products U11B Stars advanced to the provincial weekend final for Tier 2 winning twice over Norwood. Friday, after giving up an early goal, they soon took the lead. Ben De Kairelle fired one in off the blocker, and Ford Fairbairn tallied from the slot. In the second, Ira Bellegarde made it 3-1. Hunter O’Hoski cemented the 6-2 win with a natural hat trick in the third. Shots favoured Napanee 25-13. 

Saturday, in Norwood, in a tighter battle, the Stars prevailed 3-2, with Bellegarde getting the winner in overtime. Hunter Armstrong and Bellegarde had scored earlier.

-The U15 Napanee Stars got two wins over Campbellford to advance to the Tier 1 Playoff Semifinals.  At home, they battled hard to win 2-0. In the second frame, Declan McGarvey passed in front to Colton Lockridge who made no mistake. Minutes later, Ben Kerr earned a helper as he put a drop pass onto Wes Davey’s stick.  Shots favoured Campbellford 25-19. Saturday, they sailed 7-2 and never trailed. Goal scorers were Kerr, Oliver Kimmett, Wilson, Keagan York, and Davey had a hat trick.

-The D&D Electrocraft U18 Stars got two wins to earn a place in the Tier 1 Semi Finals facing Douro. In Tweed, they were convincing 4-1 winners on goals by Kohen Cutler, Caleb South, Jacob Cox, and Blake Wood. Saturday they defeated Ennismore 3-1 at the SPC in a tight defensive battle. The teams traded goals in the first- South scored for the locals. Five minutes into the third, Jayden Holden chipped in a rebound. Zered Haller clinched the win with an empty netter.  Ennismore outshot the Stars 24-22.
