Two suspects arrested, drugs and cash seized after OPP Community Street Crime executes search warrant in Greater Napanee

On May 31, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by the L&A County OPP, executed a search warrant at a residence in Greater Napanee. Police arrested two people at the scene and seized a quantity of cash and illegal drugs.

Police seized suspected cocaine and methamphetamine along with nearly $1,200 cash.

As a result of the investigation police have charged:

A 36-year-old of Greater Napanee contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking

And a 30-year-old of Greater Napanee contrary to the Criminal Code with:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime; and
  • Two counts of fail to comply with release order.

The 30-year-old was further charged contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act with two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking. The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee by video bail on June 15, 2021.

The 36-year-old was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Aug. 3, 2021.

-On June 3 just before midnight, officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver that left a business on County Road 41 in Greater Napanee.

 Police observed the suspect vehicle driving erratically on highway 401 westbound near Deseronto Road and initiated a traffic stop.  A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted on the driver.   The driver was subsequently arrested and taken to L&A County Detachment for further testing. Police seized suspected cocaine and two knives.

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have arrested and charged a 28-year-old of Kingston with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance
  • Drive motor vehicle with no licence
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 22, 2021. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
