Two new COVID-19 cases reported in KFLA on Thursday, health unit offers Thanksgiving tips to help limit the spread

KFLA Public Health reported two new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.

One case was a male age 60 to 69 while the other was a female health care worker between the ages of 40-49. Exposure is under investigation in both cases.

The health unit also reported several active cases had recovered, dropping the current active case count down to 14. The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is now at 158, of which 144 have recovered with no deaths.

The health unit offered the following tips ahead of the Thanksgiving long weekend:

  • Stay local, support local.
  • Don’t travel outside the KFL&A region.
  • Stay within your own household.
  • Consider a virtual meal with the rest of your family especially those who are elderly or more vulnerable.
  • If you must have travellers or travel, do the risk assessment and screen for symptoms using the Ontario.ca screening tool.
  • Try entertaining outdoors by having a picnic or barbecue.
  • Wear a face covering and stay 2 metres apart.
  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer often.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Get tested if you have symptoms of COVID-19.
