TURNBULL, Alice Mary

TURNBULL, Alice Mary

In loving memory of Alice Mary Turnbull, who passed peacefully Sunday March 4th 2024 in her 97th year, surrounded by family in Napanee.
Beloved wife to Bruce Turnbull who left the world we know in March of 2015. Admired and adored mother to Tom Turnbull (Joan), Corynne Dietrich (Brad) and Alison Turnbull
Grandmother and great-grandmother to several cherished children with whom she spent many wonderful times.
Predeceased by siblings: Carrie Joyne, Grace Vincent, Alfred Hogeboom, Clifford Hogeboom, Mildred Hunter, Vernon Hogeboom, Clara Young, George Hogeboom, Milton (Bud) Hogeboom, Don Hogeboom. Survived by Leona Marlow.
Alice and Bruce married in 1949 and started a family the following year.
She was hard working, starting her working life at 13 helping in a family baking business and then on to Dupont meeting her best friend, Qwen who became her roommate and subsequently married Qwen’s Brother.
She then self taught herself how to run and manage the office for the family construction business for over 25 years.
Upon retirement they moved to the lake and spent many wonderful years enjoying the tranquility and splendor where they enjoyed hosting numerous extended family gatherings. Alice was a devoted mother and wife always available and ready for anything that family came up with as a plan. The gardens they put together covered most of an acre and fall, saw preserves to last the winter and then some. Generous to a fault as everyone came before her needs, modest one never to be the spotlight. Most special was that Alice never had a bad word for something or someone or complaint and was respected by everyone. Patience was her middle name.
They enjoyed many wonderful trips with great friends that took them to several corners of the world. She loved the spring when the trees started producing sap that ultimately became wonderful syrup.
A memorial will be held at Wartman’s Funeral Home – Kingston on Collins Bay Road Saturday March 30th, 2024 with words at 11:00 am followed by a reception 11:30 am – 2:00 pm.
