Tractor trailer driver charged with impaired on the 401 near Napanee

On Oct 28, 2021, at approximately 1 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a tractor trailer that that was travelling westbound in an erratic manner on Hwy 401.  Police initiated a traffic stop on Hwy 401 in Greater Napanee after the tractor trailer narrowly missed colliding with an overpass bridge.

Officers determined that the driver was showing signs of impairment.  An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for processing.

L&A County OPP have charged a 39-year-old of Vaudreuil- Dorion QC  with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drug;
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand; and
  • Two counts of fail to comply with a release order.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear by video at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee today. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
