An unoccupied Napanee OPP cruiser was struck by a tractor trailer around 1:30 a.m. this morning while on scene of another accident on Hwy 401 near Odessa.
The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while there were no reported injuries to the officers on scene. The truck crashed into the cruiser as part of a chain reaction from several other tractor trailers colliding near the parked cruiser.
The police were originally on scene to respond to a jack-knifed tractor trailer.
Weather conditions were deteriorating at the time, and the westbound 401 was closed for for removal of the damaged vehicles. The highway has been cleared and is now open.
