For the first time in nearly a decade, some new names will be enshrined into the Greater Napanee Sports Hall of Fame.

A total of five plaques will be added during an induction ceremony that will take place Dec. 14 at the Strathcona Paper Centre. The names will be made public shortly before the event and everyone is welcome to attend. The final details of the induction ceremony will be finalized as the date draws near.

After laying dormant for the last 10 years, the Hall of Fame committee was revived following a motion put forth by deputy mayor Marg Isbester during a council meeting earlier this year. The town then called upon residents to submit nominations for local sports figures they felt were worthy of being inducted, with the committee holding the final vote which paired it down to five. The Hall of Fame is located at the SPC, just outside the Goodyear Rink. It currently consists of 21 inductees.
