Greater Napanee is calling on talents to apply to be part of this summer’s Music by the River, which has evolved to encompass a wide array of arts and culture performances.

Starting July 4, the outdoor concert series will take part on the pavilion at Conservation Park, featuring two ‘traditional’ concerts per week, one show geared towards kids per month and two open mic shows July 4 and Aug. 8.

“For over 10 years, Music by the River has been a fantastic way to bring the community together for a wonderful afternoon of entertainment; with this fresh approach, we are hoping to explore and showcase a variety of artistic avenues in our community, in addition to the traditional musical concerts,” states Greater Napanee’s community programming clerk, Kelsey Pearson in a press release. “We are opening the stage to performers of all calibers. Whether they’re new to entertaining or just beginning to explore the arts, providing an open mic opportunity for amateur performers will encourage them to have fun and get comfortable with a crowd. We still offer our traditional dates to more seasoned and professional performers. We are encouraging youth and young families to come to Conservation Park for our Junior series, which will offer children’s entertainment for the audience. We have opened the stage to various talents; not only music, but also dance, stand-up comedy, poetry readings, theatre and anything else arts and culture related. With our Hometown Market coinciding in the park every Saturday with Music by the River, we are anticipating a larger audience than we have had in the past; introducing the public, both residents and tourists, to the flourishing arts and culture scene in our community.”

Interested acts can fill out a performer application form, found online at www.GreaterNapanee.com under the ‘events and festivals’ page.

The deadline to apply is March 27 at 5 p.m. Music by the River will run July 4 to Aug. 29.
