Third-party planning is preferable

Re: ‘Time to bring planning in-house’, Napanee Beaver, July 27.

While it was clearly not Mr. Hogle’s intention with his impassioned plea to bring planning ‘in house’, his stated desire for more local approachability and the opportunity for direct communication on planning issues, totally makes the case for the virtues of the objectivity and arm’s length relationship that a third-party outside of town administration provides to council and the planning process.

Kudos to the council and the town’s administration for recognizing that as Greater Napanee becomes more challenged by growth and evolving community needs, that such planning capacity is not within the town’s resources, but that town can benefit from the contracting of the broader experience of others while at same the same time assuring residents of objectivity that is free from local influences.
