Unless the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are postponed, there will be no Canadian athletes competing at the games.

The games are currently scheduled to begin on July 24, though organizers have conceded it’s unlikely they will take place amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Sunday the Canadian Olympic Committee announced they won’t send any athletes to the games if they were to be held in July. They are calling on the International Olympic Committee to postpone the games a year.

Among the athletes that were set to represent the country was Napanee’s own Britt Benn, a member of the women’s sevens national rugby team.
