Suspicious vehicle results in impaired charges

On Sept. 4 at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the shoulder of Hwy 401 westbound near Shannonville exit.

Police located the vehicle and woke the sleeping driver.  The driver was showing signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further processing.

As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged Ka 26-year-old of Belleville with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

·      Class G1 licence holder – drive on prohibited highway

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Sept. 28. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

-On Sept. 5 at approximately 11 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a multi vehicle collision on Purdy Road in Bath, Ontario.

Investigation revealed that a black sedan struck an SUV resulting in damage to the SUV and a truck that was parked on the shoulder of the road. No one was injured in the collision.  Police determined that the driver of the black sedan was showing signs of impairment and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for processing.

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have charged a 43-year-old of Loyalist Township with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drug;
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Sept. 21. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
