Just after midnight on Friday morning officers of the Lennox and Addington County OPP responded to report of suspicious person at a business on Advance Avenue in Napanee.
Officers arrived on scene and spoke to a male who had driven to the location. As a result of the investigation a 29-year-old Napanee male was charged with operating while impaired and operation over 80.
The accused driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his motor vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. He was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on May 7.
-On April 21 officers of the Lennox and Addington County OPP responded to a report of a domestic assault at a residence in the Town of Greater Napanee.
During the investigation the male became physically assaultive towards the officers. Additional officers attended to assist in the arrest. The police officer involved suffered minor physical injuries.
As a result of the police investigation, a 51-year-old Napanee man was arrested and charged with assault, uttering threats, breach of recognizance, disarming a peace officer and two counts of assaulting a peace officer.
-Also on April 21 an officer with the Lennox and Addington OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy 401. The stop occurred near the Salmon River Bridge after suspecting the vehicle to be the subject vehicle of an earlier complaint.
The officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage coming off of the driver’s breath and a roadside Alcotest was subsequently administered. The driver registered a reading of “alert” which resulted in an automatic three day licence suspension.
The 24-year-old female from Kingston was charged with driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available under the Liquor Licence Act, driving while under suspension under the Highway Traffic Act; and, unlawful purchase of cannabis under the Cannabis Control Act.
-The Easter long weekend was a busy one for Lennox and Addington OPP as they responded to 268 calls for service.
A concurrent traffic campaign targeting aggressive driving/seatbelt violations yielded the following results in L&A County as well: 115 drivers charged with speeding, three Stunt driving charges laid, three seatbelt charges, 13 hazardous moving violation charges, 17 other Highway traffic act charges, two impaired driving charges, one charge under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, one provincial offence charge and one driver was given an administrative drivers licence suspension for registering a ‘warn’ on the roadside alcohol screening instrument.
