It’s crunch time for the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital Foundation’sRide for MRI, which takes place May 26, starting at 8:30 a.m.

Cyclists can still register for the event, which is aiming to raise $100,000 towards the hospital’s $3.5 million MRI campaign. Registration is $35 per rider, with additional pledge donations from friends and family welcome.

Cyclists have the option of two routes-a 30 km ride to Newburgh and back or a 4 km loop through Napanee. Both rides start and end at the Westdale Complex, right next to LACGH’s main campus.

“It was a few years ago that I got back on my bike and realized how much I loved it,” said Zach Richmond, an avid local cyclist who helped organize the event. “With this ride, we planned the route so it was something anyone could do. Thirty kilometers sounds like a lot, but it is a nice ride into Newburgh and back, something most people drive regularly. For our first year, we wanted to make sure this was achievable for all riders. This time of year is a great time to ride and this is a great cause to support and raise funds for.”

Registration includes access to the ride, continental breakfast, post-ride music entertainment and lunch.

Though the MRI has arrived and is now installed, the campaign continues to fund it. LACGH is the smallest hospital in the province to operate an MRI, which allows patients to get seen close to home with faster results and better outcomes.

Not too long after the bike ride it will be time to get out the clubs and tee off for the 27th annual LACGH Foundation Golf Tournament, which will take place July 31 at the Napanee Golf and Country Club. To learn more visit https://lacghfoundation.com/27th-foundation-golf-tournament/.
