Stars wrap up regular season and gear up for OMHA playoffs

The Napanee Windoorman Midget BBs split weekend games to complete league play, as they prepare for playoffs. They got a solid two goal performance from Mason Barker who earned both goals in a tight 2-1 win in Norwood. His dramatic power-play goal with 53 seconds remaining proved to be the winner, as he tipped Connor Brooks’ point shot over the goalie. Nolan Gunter also made the scoreboard with an assist on the earlier goal.  On Saturday in Wellington, the Midgets were edged 2-1 by Prince Edward County. The teams traded goals in the first, with Napanee’s Quinton Pierce scoring a power-play marker assisted by John Hearns and Tyler Brady. Early in the third, their hosts would score their own power-play goal to win.

-The AFW Construction Atom BBs got two more wins to gain the Eastern Ontario League title. Earlier they had narrowly defeated Loyalist, but on Sunday they cruised 6-1 over Loyalist at the SPC. Their balanced attack saw six different snipers net goals- Peyton Brooks, Oliver Kimmett, Ben Kerr, Brock Boutilier, Cooper Seaton and Braden Hartwick. The team had a solid outing in Norwood winning 7-1. Kerr scored twice, and Wesley Davey, William Babcock, Kimmett, Brock Alaver, and Colton Lockridge tallied singles. Carter Cork was solid in net in both contests.

-The Calderwood Automation Bantams, with two weekend wins, finished in top spot in their league. Sunday, Spencer Cranley scored the first five goals en route to a 9-2 win in Brighton.  In Picadilly on Saturday, the boys rolled over Frontenac 6-0. Sam Rickard earned the shutout in net, while Cranley contributed a pair of goals. Aaron Storms, Jayden Holden, Daniel Chase and Zered Haller also made the score sheet.

-The Napanee Canadian Tire Peewee AEs wound up league play at home to Norwood with a 5-0 loss. They will face Ennismore and/or Lindsay in the Preliminary Round of the OMHA playoffs.
