The Boyer GM Squirt Napanee Express clinched gold with absolute authority at the U12 Boys Oshawa Fastball Tournament this weekend, winning all five games they played.

They won them quite handily at that, earning a mercy victory in each game they played while outscoring the competition by a blistering 88-1 mark over 25 innings.

Napanee clinched gold with a 17-0 victory over Hillsdale on Sunday, with Gavin Brooks allowing just one hit.

The Express announced their arrival to the tournament in style, routing the host Oshawa BB team 25-0, while Napanee starter Ethan Sutcliffe picked up a five inning no-hitter.

In the second game they kept rolling, blanking the Kitchener Twins 10-0, while Brooks allowed just one hit.

Brandon Barker continued the sparkling pitching trend in the Express’ third game, as he no-hit the Ennismore A’s over five innings while his team provided him 22 runs of support. Napanee closed out pool play facing the same Hillsdale team they’d see in the finals. Though the Express finally relented and allowed a run, they still cruised to a 14-1 victory.

Contributions were provided up and down the lineup as all 10 of the Express batters recorded at least a .455 batting average with six of them hitting better than .600. On the season the Express remain undefeated in 21 games while facing U12 rep teams.

The Express will be in Grafton this weekend to take part in the squirt east qualifier. Their face game will be against Bridgenorth. Following that tournament  they’ll have a handful of league games before they host the OASA Provincial Championship, starting Aug. 12 at the Fairgrounds.

That tournament will be the third and final major event hosted by Softball Napanee this season.
