Southview PS Goes Bowling For Pumpkins

Lillian Rogers rolls a pumpkin down the front hall of Southview Public School on Friday, part of Rachel Hendry’s annual Grade 4 ‘pumpkin math’ project. The class learned about height and mass by measuring the pumpkins and then concluded the lesson with a competition to see who could roll their pumpkin the furthest while looking to unseat the reigning champion, vice-principal Bill Dowling. As a joke the students gave the vice-principal a 90-pound pumpkin to roll before allowing him to roll a regular size. Photo by Adam Prudhomme.

Vice-principal Bill Dowling was in for a surprise when he learned the pumpkin he had to roll was much bigger than the ones the students had. Like a good sport, he still made an effort. Photo by Adam Prudhomme.
