South Frontenac mayor thanks rescue team

The amount of relief and joy felt by this community (on March 31) was vast and incredibly overwhelming.

Our countless prayers and hopeful wishes were answered with the safe rescue of young Jude Leyton on March 31, 2021 at approximately 3:20 pm. Jude was located alive and well after having been missing since Sunday morning – to say this felt like a miracle for many would be an understatement. On behalf of council, staff, and the entire municipality I want to thank the OPP Frontenac Detachment, their Eastern OPP Region counterparts, South Frontenac Fire & Rescue, the Ontario Search and Rescue Volunteer Association (OSARVA), and all other emergency response teams and road crews that successfully led the search for young Jude.

This incredible outcome would not have been possible without your dedicated efforts over the last 4 days, and for that we are forever grateful. Although life has had its challenges this past year with the pandemic, the events over the past few days is a reminder of how caring and resilient our community can be – thank you South Frontenac.
