South Frontenac man faces assault charge

A local man is facing charges after an altercation at a Napanee park on Saturday.

The Napanee OPP detachment reports that its officers were dispatched to Rotary Park shortly before 7 p.m. to investigate a report of an assault.

It was alleged that the male suspect assaulted the victim and threatened to cause him bodily harm. The victim’s vehicle was damaged as a result of the incident, and police were called before the altercation spilled over into the splash pad area of the park.

Police arrived on scene and arrested a 34-year-old man from South Frontenac with assault, uttering threats to cause bodily harm and mischief under $5,000.

The man was released on a promise to appear in Napanee provincial court on July 25.
