Six NDSS snowboarders land in the top 20 at EOSSAA

NDSS’ alpine snowboarding team saw six of its members place in the top 20 at the EOSSAA championship, held at Calabogie Peaks.

Ethan Sutcliffe (fifth) was the highest finishing Hawks with  Nate Gifkins (ninth), Morgan Lyman (12), Carter Morris (14), Josh McNamee (15) and Ty Chalk (19) all inside the top 20.

NDSS Team Blue came second in the competition and won the silver medal in the high school division. This team will represent the area at OFSAA that is being hosted by Devil’s Glen on Feb. 28 and consists of Sutcliffe, Gifkins, Lyman and Ollie Dupuis.

NDSS will also send three athletes: Sutcliffe, Gifkins and Lyman, to compete in the High School Boardercross event on Feb. 29 at Beaver Valley Ski Resort.

In total NDSS sent 10 snowboarders to the EOSSAA event, with Owen Rankin, Kayden Thompson and Taven Haller also representing the school.

Earlier this month, on Feb. 14, Callum Moore completed at EOSSAA ski at Calabogie Peaks for NDSS.  In the competition, he finished third overall in the Open Division, winning the bronze medal.
