Seniors Association Kingston Region and Loyalist Township welcomed Raymond Cho, Minister of Seniors and Accessibility of Ontario, to officially launch Seniors Centre Loyalist. The event, which took place at the Amherstview Community Hall, 117 Upper Park Rd in Amherstview, was also attended by MPP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington Ric Bresee and Loyalist Township mayor Jim Hegadorn. The event schedule included a tour of the facility, introductions, and speeches from key figures, highlighting the collaborative effort and dedication towards enhancing the lives of seniors in the community.

“This is an exciting day for everyone in the Loyalist Township,” said  Cho. “At the present time, we have 301 Seniors Activity Centres in Ontario, and this year we are adding 17 more. This new Centre helps our seniors and people of all abilities continue to live healthy and independent lives.”

A shining example of energy and vitality as a senior himself, Cho gave a gift to those in attendance: playing a song on his saxophone.

Seniors Centre Loyalist, made possible through funding from the Ministry of Seniors & Accessibility and the support of the provincial government, offers a wide range of activities like art and fitness programs in Amherstview, Bath, Wilton, and Odessa.
