Forever In Our Hearts

Passed away peacefully on Thursday September 7, 2023 surrounded by the love of her family. She is predeceased by her parents and brother, George Lamar Matlock, Essie Mae Matlock and Richard Matlock. Linda will join her beloved husband and best friend of twenty-eight years Robert (Bob) who passed in 2021. Linda is survived by her siblings George Matlock (Sharon) of Denver Colorado and Sherry Stillman (late Richard Stillman) of Dallas, Texas. Cherished mother of Jennifer (Steve Woolacott) and step daughters Hayley (Peter Deveau) and , the late Shannon (2008) and Gillian. Proud grandmother to Alexandra and Mackenzie, and loving Nana to her step grandchildren, Katelyn (Aaron Booterbaugh), Justin (Manon), Shailyn, Annika, Tyjah, Darius, Daylon and Clea and her great grandchildren, Warren, AJ, Elijah, and Phoenix. Linda will be missed by her aunts, uncles and cousins and by her many friends and neighbors near and far.
Linda was born and educated in Dallas, Texas. In her early years she traveled and worked, teaching English at the Berlitz School in Mexico, with a law firm in Los Angeles California, and in the Mechanical Engineering Department at McGill University in Montreal and finally settling in Toronto at Osgoode Hall, York University. Linda later developed her career with the Ontario Ministry of Finance beginning in 1981 and retired from the Ontario Ministry of Health in Kingston in 2009. Linda loved spending her retirement years with Bob together on the shores of Long Reach in Napanee. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, contributing to the CWL with St. Patrick’s Parish, founding member of the Bay Bookers Book club, crocheting, cooking, baking, preparing delicious meals for her family gatherings and attending and hosting neighborhood celebrations. She especially enjoyed winter holidays traveling with family and friends.
Our memories of her will always be in our hearts and the love she shared with us will be carried on. a graveside gathering to be held Saturday, October 7th at 11am at Mount Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 21 Garrard Rd Whitby ON L1N 3K4. Reception to follow 11:30am-1:30pm. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
