The 6th annual Greater Napanee Riverfront Festival will be take place Friday and Saturday in Conservation Park.
This event promises lots of new attractions to welcome visitors, such as the Little Party Ponies and a historic naval encampment.
A multicultural festival will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a welcome speech at 11:45 a.m.
There will also be returning events, such as the OPP breakfast and Lion’s Club barbecue. Other events include a petting zoo, compliments of Caitie’s Critters, Hometown Market, Emergency Services bouncy castle, fire truck display and crafts at the Napanee Branch of the L&A County Library.
If water levels cooperate, the St. Lawrence II tall ship will be docked in the Napanee River for families to climb aboard.
Meanwhile in town, Greater Napanee Emergency Services will be hosting the Pulling for Hope fire truck pull, starting at 10 a.m. on Dundas Street.
Currently, Conservation Park’s pavilion where the multicultural festival takes place is surrounded by water which could force some of Saturday’s events to be relocated.
“2017 saw high water levels, but not this high,” said Annie Manion, economic development coordinator for Greater Napanee. “Some things will be happening in Lion’s Park-it’s a bit higher ground, so if things are moving, it may be a short move just across the road.”
As of Wednesday, Manion noted that the town has yet to decide whether or not remedial measures need to be taken to account for rising water levels.
