Napanee’s dynamic battery of pitcher Riley Manion and catcher Brendan Hagerman were in perfect sync Sunday night as Manion tossed a no-hitter over the Czech Republic at the World Baseball Softball Confederation junior men’s softball world championship in Prince Albert, Sask.

Manion struck out 15 on the way, allowing just one run on four walks for the 6-1 victory. Hagerman not only called a great game behind the dish but also chipped in with two hits and an RBI.

The Napanee Express teammates also played a role in Canada’s tournament opening 10-3 win over the United States earlier on Sunday. Hagerman smashed a key double and then scored on a three-run home run to put the Canadians up 4-3. Manion came on in the sixth inning to get the final two outs to earn the save.

Canada will take on Guatemala this evening at 10 p.m. eastern time.
